 Giuseppe Raviola, MD MPH, is Director of the Program in Global Mental Health and Social Change (PGMHSC) at Harvard Medical School, Associate Director of the Chester M. Pierce, MD Division of Global Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), and Director of Mental Health for Partners In Health (PIH). He is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, and of Global Health and Social Medicine at HMS. He has applied his expertise in global mental health and disaster mental health to build substantial, measurable, innovative mental health service delivery models. In Rwanda, in Haiti following the 2010 earthquake, in Liberia and Sierra Leone following the 2014-16 Ebola outbreak and in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts during the 2020-22 COVID-19 pandemic, his efforts have catalyzed comprehensive health system strengthening—inclusive of mental health. Dr. Raviola has developed and supported research to ensure that these models that are safe, evidence-based, culturally sound and adapted, and scalable.
