Publication: Exploring the Link Between Functional Disabilities and Mental Well-being in Youth

This publication from our lab delves into how various functional disabilities are connected to mental well-being in children and adolescents across multiple low- and middle-income countries. The study identifies key disability domains, such as difficulties in accepting change, making friends, behavioral control, and remembering/concentrating, that are strongly associated with poor mental health outcomes. Notably, it highlights how these associations vary by age and gender, with signs of anxiety in males and depression in females showing the strongest connections to functional disabilities. By reading the full article, you'll gain insights into how these findings can inform tailored interventions and support services that consider age and gender differences to enhance mental well-being among young people with disabilities.
