Sydney LeSon

Sydney LeSon, MPH is a Research Assistant at the Mental Health for All Lab in the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine. Sydney received a Master of Public Health with a concentration in epidemiology from Brown University and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley. Her research interests broadly include social epidemiology, infectious diseases, and global mental health. Prior to joining the lab, Sydney has conducted research exploring neurodegenerative diseases with a specific focus on the use of AI and language-modeling technologies in clinical note-taking and its impact on health inequities. She has also led projects with the Department of Epidemiology and Infection Prevention at Brown University Health and cohort studies evaluating HIV treatment programs in partnership with the Careena Centre for Health in Gaborone, Botswana.

Sydney is passionate about pursuing innovative and interdisciplinary research to understand health disparities and advance preventative care and treatment. She aspires to bridge clinical medicine with community-engaged research to advocate for individuals and improve healthcare accessibility. Also a ballet dancer and outdoors enthusiast, she loves promoting movement and the arts as forms of connection, wellness, and healing.
